Peter D. Wearden, MD, PhD, joined Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC in 2005 as a congenital cardiothoracic surgeon. Prior to coming to Pittsburgh he was with The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where he was chief clinical fellow in pediatric cardiac surgery. In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Wearden has a doctorate in pharmacology and toxicology from West Virginia University. In 2003, Dr. Wearden was director of surgery for preclinical testing at the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine and then following that position, he was a clinical instructor in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Wearden also is an associate professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
