Pediatric orthopaedic surgeon
Pediatric orthopaedic surgeon, Laura Trombino, MD, has worked at the Duluth Clinic for 12 years. While she is called to help on some adult trauma cases, the vast majority of her practice focuses on pediatric orthopaedics, which she finds very rewarding.

“You can make a concrete difference in a child’s development,” explains Dr. Trombino. She also enjoys the long-term relationship she’s able to have with her patients and their families. Pediatric orthopaedic surgeons often track a patient’s condition and development throughout their childhood.

Dr. Trombino attended medical school at Northwestern University in Chicago. Her orthopaedic residency took place at the University of Iowa. That’s also where she completed her more specialized training, a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics. Dr. Trombino practiced for three years at Children’s Memorial in Chicago, before coming to Duluth.

Dr. Trombino says she’s eager to educate others about the types of pediatric orthopaedic surgeries offered through the Duluth Clinic. “I think it’s important for the public to understand the procedures that we do and why we might recommend them,” she says.
