Vascular Specialist Surgeon

Dr. Stokes received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He trained in general and vascular surgery at the Medical College of Virginia, and completed his vascular surgery fellowship in 1994. After graduating from Hampden-Sydney College, Dr. Stokes continued his studies at Old Dominion University, where he earned a master of science in biology. As a research fellow in reproductive biology at the Jones Institute of Reproductive Medicine, Dr. Stokes studied factors that affect the success of in-vitro fertilization.

In 1994 Dr. Stokes joined Vascular & Transplant Specialists (formerly known as Virginia Vascular Associates) where he serves as a member of its board and secretary-treasurer of the corporation. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery in both general and vascular surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Dr. Stokes is an assistant professor of clinical surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Dr. Stokes has a special interest in aortic, limb salvage, and vascular access surgery. He continues to be actively involved in clinical trials for the treatment of vascular disease. Dr. Stokes is highly skilled in endovascular surgery and uses minimally invasive techniques to achieve excellent results.

Dr. Stokes has admitting privileges at all the acute care hospitals in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake.
