Dr. Janet Squires is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and the physician director of the Child Advocacy Program at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Dr. Squires received her MD from Indiana University of School of Medicine, and completed a pediatric residency and a pediatric infectious diseases fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. She was on the faculty of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center for sixteen years, and worked at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas where she was director of General Academic Pediatrics, the Pediatric HIV program, and the Pediatric Child Abuse program. In 2003, she moved to Pittsburgh. Areas of current focus include evaluation of children for concerns of maltreatment, and education of medical personnel around issues of home violence and abuse.
