Alexander Rosemurgy, MD attended the University of Wisconsin graduating from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences with a degree in Biochemistry. After obtaining his medical degree from the University of Michigan College of Medicine, he undertook his surgical residency at the University of Chicago where he spent two years in basic science research. Since 1984 Dr. Rosemurgy has been at the University of South Florida (USF). A Professor in both the USF Departments of Surgery and Medicine, Dr. Rosemurgy is also the Director of the USF Division of General Surgery, the Surgical Director of the Tampa General Hospital Digestive Disorders Center, and the recipient of the Vivian Clark Reeves/Joy McCann Culverhouse Endowed Chair for Digestive Disorders and Pancreatic Cancer.

Dr. Rosemurgy manages a full surgical schedule with teaching, administrative, and clinical as well as basic science research responsibilities. His research focus and clinical interests include achalasia, portal hypertension, GERD, cholangiocarcinoma, and pancreatic cancer. Dr. Rosemurgy is also active in a variety of professional, scholarly, and civic organizations.
