Mark Rasmussen, MD joined the staff of Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Consultants in 1994. He specializes in the operative and non-operative treatment of sports medicine injuries with an emphasis on arthroscopy, total join replacement and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, knee and hip.
A longtime resident of Kansas City, Rasmussen has deep roots in our community. He graduated first in his class of 690 students at Shawnee Mission South High School. He continued his education at the University of Kansas where he graduated with a 3.97 GPA in 1988. Rasmussen completed his five year Orthopaedic residency at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota where he was awarded the prestigious Joseph Janes award for academic and surgical excellence. After his residency he completed a sports medicine and arthroscopy fellowship in Richmond, Virginia, where he also worked as an assistant physician for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Mark retains active memberships in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Clinical Orthopaedic Society, American Medical Association, Kansas State Medical Society, Kansas Orthopaedic Society and Kansas City Orthopaedic Society. He is currently the chairman of the section of Orthopaedic Surgery at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
