Jan M. Quaegebeur, M.D., Ph.D. is the Director, Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, Congenital Heart Center at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian, and Professor of Surgery at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. He is a graduate of the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium and received his pediatric cardiac training at the State University in Leiden, the Netherlands, the University of Birmingham in Alabama and Boston Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Quaegebeur was Professor of Pediatric cardiac Surgery at the Academic Hospital in Leiden where he developed surgical techniques for the arterial switch operation and obtained his Ph.D. on this subject. He is an expert in pediatric heart surgery, is a member of several scientific societies, has an extensive list of publications and lectures and has been visiting professor and guest surgeon at leading surgical centers all over the world. Under his leadership, the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery program at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center has become one of the largest in the country.
