A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Dr. Song K. Kang attended the University of Virginia and received his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine. Kang completed his residency at Duke University Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident.
Board Certified in Radiation Oncology from the American Board of Radiology, Kang has served on committees for the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and has been a journal reviewer.
An advocate of clinical research, Kang has authored publications in journals including Cancer, New England Journal of Medicine, and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology and Physics, as well as chapters in the textbook, Principles and Practice of Radiation Oncology. He has also presented his research at national meetings including American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, American Society for Clinical Oncology, and Radiation Research Society.
Prior to joining Virginia Oncology Associates, Kang practiced and served as the Clinical Director of Radiation Oncology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, where he was appointed Assistant Professor of Radiology. An enthusiast of the arts and recreation, Kang enjoys classical music, and an array of competitive sports including tennis and racquetball. He lives in Williamsburg, Virginia with his wife and two young children.
