Reconstructive procedures or prosthetic replacement of diseased or injured joints can result in significant improvement in the quality of life for patients suffering with joint disorders. The aspirations of the Reconstructive Joint Surgery Section, Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center are to restore joint function, prevent further injury, and alleviate debilitating pain.

Mark Hartzband M.D. earned both his Bachelor of Science and medical degrees from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec. His surgical internship and orthopedic residency programs were completed at Montefiore Medical Center - Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York. In 1986, he received his American Board Certification for Orthopedic Surgery.
