William A. Gray, M.D., is an interventional cardiologist, board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and in Vascular Medicine and Endovascular Intervention by the American Board of Vascular Medicine. Dr. Gray has been at the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy (CIVT) as Director, Endovascular Intervention at New York Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital since 2005.
Prior to joining Columbia University Dr. Gray was Director of the Endovascular Care at Swedish Medical Center from 1999-2005. Before Seattle, Dr. Gray practiced at Southwest Cardiology where he directed research, served as vice-chair of the Cardiology division at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M., and was a founding member of the Heart Hospital of New Mexico.
Dr. Gray specializes in coronary and peripheral arterial disease diagnosis and treatment with a special interest in non-surgical modalities for stroke prevention, specifically carotid stenting, patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure, and left atrial appendage occlusion for patients in atrial fibrillation.
Dr. Gray has been principal investigator for numerous clinical trials, and is routinely asked to speak at national and international conferences. He has also been a consultant and device/procedure proctor for numerous medical corporations, and has been a journal reviewer for the Journal of the American Medical Association the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and Circulation. He has been a regular contributor to the Endovascular Board examination.
Dr. Gray holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA and graduated from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Dr. Gray’s postgraduate training included an internship, residency, and Chief Residency in Internal Medicine at Brown University/Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I., where he also completed a clinical/research/interventional fellowship in Cardiology.
Dr. Gray is also a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and the American College of Physicians.
