Barbara A. Gaines, MD, is the director of the Benedum Pediatric Trauma Program and a pediatric surgeon at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. She joined Children’s Hospital in 2000 and also is an assistant professor of pediatric surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, she teaches medical students, pediatric surgery residents and pediatric surgery fellows in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. Dr. Gaines academic and community outreach interests include childhood injury prevention.
