Chief of Interventional Radiology, AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center

Mitchell H. Brezel, MD, is chief of interventional radiology at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center (ARMC). Brezel oversees the daily and long term activities and planning of minimally invasive procedures within the department. He ensures the quality of interventional treatment programs and procedures offered patients in radiology, as well as the introduction of new interventional treatments and technology.

Brezel is also responsible for training several physicians and staff in new minimally invasive procedures, including embolization, through regular lectures. In 1999, Brezel was part of the ARMC team that performed the first uterine artery embolization in southeastern New Jersey.

Brezel holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Cornell University’s School of Arts and Sciences in Ithaca, New York. He earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in New York, New York. He completed his residency at State University of New York’s Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn in diagnostic radiology; where during his last two years, Brezel served as chief resident. He also has special competence in Cross Sectional Imaging, Neuroradiology and Angiography. He was a Fellow at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, where he studied Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

Brezel’s professional affiliations include the Society of Interventional Radiology, the American College of Radiology, and the Medical Society of New Jersey.

A resident of Linwood, New Jersey, Brezel and his wife have three children.
