Assistant Professor of Surgery

Dr. Lawrence Bodenstein is Assistant Professor of Surgery at Columbia University and an attending general pediatric surgeon at The Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York Presbyterian.

Dr. Bodenstein has earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from The Johns Hopkins University, a medical degree from Harvard Medical School and a doctoral degree from Harvard University.  He has completed a residency in general surgery and a fellowship in surgical critical care at Beth Israel Hospital (Boston) and a fellowship in pediatric surgery at The Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York Presbyterian.

Dr. Bodenstein maintains an active clinical practice in New York City dedicated to treating a broad range of surgical problems in infants, children and adolescents.  He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Pediatric Surgical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics.  He is also a member of the national Children’s Oncology Group and Board Vice-Chairman at the Columbia University Institutional Review Board.
