William J. Beutler, MD, is a board certified neurosurgeon specializing in the treatment of spinal disorders. He also completed an orthopedic fellowship in spinal surgery at the Upstate Medical University at State University of New York. The combination of both advanced neurosurgical and orthopedic spine fellowship training is unique. He completed his residency in neurosurgery at Georgetown University Hospital. In addition, he served during his neurosurgery residency at Children's Hospital National Medical Center, the Veterans Administration Hospital in Washington, D.C., and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, D.C. He was also Neurosurgery Registrar at Atkinson Morale's Hospital in London. Dr. Beutler is a 1983 graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo and received his undergraduate degree from The Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering.

Dr. Beutler, with the completion of his Orthopedic Spine Fellowship, has become the only Neurosurgeon in Central Pennsylvania to have such training. He offers a unique combination of longstanding neurological practice, advanced spine training and research and a total commitment to state-of-the-art spine treatment. Dr. Beutler has authored numerous articles, which have been published in "The Johns Hopkins University Undergraduate Science Bulletin," "The Journal of Cell Biology," "Biochemical Pharmacology," "Neurosurgery," "Spine" and "The Spine Journal." His ongoing spine research has recently been accepted for presentation at several national and international meetings. He continues to be very active in research and state-of-the-art spine care. He continues to lecture extensively both in the United States and abroad.
