James F. Benenati, M.D., is medical director of Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute's Peripheral Vascular Laboratory. He is also program director of the Institute’s fellowship program in interventional radiology which is accredited through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Dr. Benenati received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Indiana University Medical Center and a fellowship in cardiovascular and interventional radiology at Johns Hopkins Medical School.

He serves as a clinical associate professor of radiology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. In addition, he is a fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology and the American Heart Association, and a member of the Radiological Society of North America. Dr. Benenati is president-elect of the Society of Interventional Radiology and president of the Intersociety Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories.

Dr. Benenati has participated in national trials evaluating UFE for the treatment of symptomatic fibroids and has organized national educational symposia on fibroid embolization. He has also published many articles on the topic. Physicians from around the country have studied UFE techniques under Dr. Benenati.
