Dr. Basamania attended the University of Rochester, State University of New York, and Harvard University before earning his medical degree from The George Washington University-School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

His post-graduate work includes an internship and residency at the Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. His fellowship was with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center, specializing with reconstructive shoulder surgery.

Currently in private practice with Triangle Orthopaedic Assoicaties, Dr. Basamania is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society. He was formerly the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery Service at Durham Veteran's

Affairs Medical Center and Assistant Professor at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Basamania has received numerous awards for his military achievements, such as the Expert Field Medical Badge and the Order of Military medical Merit Award in 1999.
