Advances and Innovations in the Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease - Expert Discussions from the Ronald O. Perelman Heart Institute

“Hopefully, the opening of this incredible new Institute will be a visible and effective symbol of our central mission of community education and outreach because we know increasing our society’s understanding of heart disease will save lives,” says , Dr. Holly Andersen, Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical College, Director of Education and Outreach, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell, Ronald O. Perelman Heart Institute. On September 24th at 7:00pm EDT Dr. Andersen will host an ORlive webcast, titled “Advances and Innovations in the Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease.” The webcast will be aired live from the impressive atrium of the newly opened Ronald O. Perelman Heart Institute located in the heart of the Medical Center Campus, a “medical town square” complete with a patient friendly information center and a clinical trials enrollment center.  During the webcast a panel of experts from the faculty of our academic medical center will discuss a wide array of recent cardiovascular developments including the latest technological advances in left main stenting, VADs, catheter approaches for Atrial Fibrillation, and  participation in the Partners Trial for Aortic Stenosis. “We believe Transcatheter therapeutics is a true game changer in the field of valvular heart disease. Demographics tell us that over 600,000 people have Aortic Stenosis that is not treatable with surgery. The successful outcome of this trial could signal a paradigm shift for the quality of life of this population,” says Dr. Arash Salemi , Assistant Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery Weill Cornell Medical College, Assistant Attending Cardiothoracic Surgeon, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. The doctors will also be available to answer live email questions during the webcast. Please join us on Sept. 24th at 7:00pm  for this compelling and important discussion celebrating the opening of the Ronald O. Perelman Heart Institute.
