The case is a 40 year old female with life altering pelvic and abdominal pain associated with endometriosis. The procedure is a laparoscopic supra cervical hysterectomy with BSO with possible colon resection resulting from stage 4 pelvic endometriosis. Doctors Steven D. McCarus and Jay A. Redan will perform the surgery. The combined colorectal and gynecological procedure demonstrates the patient advantages for a team approach to provide a one step surgical cure for the disease.

The patient history includes the following:

  • 40 W/F;
  • Chronic pelvic pain;
  • (2) previous pelvic laparoscopies;
  • Dyspareunea (painful intercourse);
  • Dysmenorrhea   (painful periods); and
  • Nuliparus uterus (no children).
