Overview
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital has major programs for orthopedics, heart disease, cancer treatment, neuroscience, otolaryngology – head & neck surgery, high-risk childbirth, genetics, radiology, digestive diseases and many other areas of medicine and surgery. It is one of only a few hospitals in the United States that is both a Level I Trauma Center and a federally designated regional spinal cord injury center. The Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson is designated as a cancer center by the National Cancer Institute.
U.S.News & World Report annually ranks Jefferson among America’s Best Hospitals for care in various specialties. In its 2009-10 America’s Best Hospitals survey, the magazine ranks Jefferson among the best in the nation in cancer; ear, nose and throat; gastrointestinal (digestive) disorders; orthopedics; rehabilitation medicine; and respiratory disorders.
