Overview
In 1869, the predecessors of Genesis Health System gave birth to the first community hospital west of the Mississippi. More than 130 years later, we continue to grow, building relationships with generations of families, contributing to the community and sharing in its achievements, broadening services throughout the Quad City region and always bringing new heights of excellence in health care.
Today, our system of health-care services a 10-county, bi-state region of the Quad Cities metropolitan area and the surrounding communities of Iowa and Illinois. But when it comes to financial performance, groundbreaking research and clinical capabilities, we exceed those geographical limits, having earned recognition as one of the nation’s top 100 Health Systems and achieved medical firsts in the nation and even the world.
Meanwhile, as we grow, we never forget our mission to provide compassionate, quality care to all those in need. Over time, that has transcended into a very personal bond with the community we serve. We remain the Quad City region’s only locally owned and operated regional health care system. That longstanding relationship brings our patients an assurance that health care decisions impacting our area are made by people who live and work in the same community that they do.
Genesis Health System and its affiliates offer a full continuum of care including preventive, primary, acute and tertiary hospital care; home health and nursing home care; hospice; rehabilitation and long-term care. Its affiliates include Genesis Medical Center - Davenport, Genesis Medical Center - Illini Campus, Genesis Medical Center - DeWitt, Genesis Medical Education Foundation, Visiting Nurse Association, and GenVentures Inc. Genesis Health System operates Genesis Health Group and Psychology Associates Genesis Behavioral Resources.
Genesis Health System is committed to minimizing health care costs, enhancing the range and quality of services offered, and improving access to care for those in need. Our affiliates bring together more than 665 licensed beds, 600 physicians, 5,000 staff members and hundreds of volunteers to serve our community.
