Drawing on the extensive imaging expertise at the University of Colorado, Dr. Ernesto Salcedo uses two-dimensional and three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography images to describe the closure of atrial septal defects (ASDs) using the AMPLATZER® Septal Occluder.
After reviewing this webcast program, viewers should be able to:
• Describe the transesophageal protocol used for guidance of ASD closure.
• Recognize the role of transesophageal echocardiography for the pre-procedure, intra-procedure and post procedure assessment of device treatment of ASDs.
• Recognize the role of transesophageal echocardiography in avoiding potential complications during ASD device deployment.
